Today is National Food Service Employee day, and I for one would like to take a minute to thank those in the line of duty. Thank you for arriving at 5 a.m in a ridiculous uniform, so we could get a cup of coffee in the drive though on our way to work. Thank you for the hours of wiping down counters, tables, and chairs, so our laptops don’t get sticky. Thank you for not leaving your post when the angry mob attacks at lunch, irritated that their precious time is being wasted in a line. Thank you for doing these things for all of us and getting in return, not much more than minimum wage and a shift meal.

So today if you happen into a food establishment, try something different. Say hello with a smile. Ask the staff person how they are doing, put down your smart phones and give the server 40 seconds of your undivided attention. You will probably make that persons day, and you just might be surprised that your order is correct, and you got hot fresh fries too.
