Lydia. I decided to make a loaf to test and indeed it is salty. After further review I found that the tablespoon was for 2 loaves. I cut the recipe to make a single but missed the salt. I have updated my recipe to use 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt. Thank you soooooo much for calling this to my attention and I'm sorry you ended up with a salty loaf. You might like to try again with the correct amount. Thanks again!!

Thanks for reaching out. I checked my notes and the recipe indeed does call for 1 tablespoon of salt. I also referenced several other bakers and they all call for 1 tablespoon. I have not found the dough to be dense when I make it. Be sure you are fluffing your flour and then spooning it into your measuring cup, before leveling off with a knife this will help avoid compacting the flour. Also the water might need to be adjusted slightly depending on the humidity where you live. Also be sure you are rising your dough in a warm environment and allow it to completely double before forming. I find the microwave is a great "proof box" for dough. I heat 1 cup of water in a glass for one minute, then move the glass to the back corner of the microwave before placing my bowl of dough inside. The closed microwave with the water creates a great atmosphere for rising, just be sure no one turn the micro on. Hope this helps!

I made this bread yesterday. The dough was really dense. Is one tablespoon of salt correct or should it be a teaspoon? I followed the instructions exactly. I was just wondering if it was too much salt. It did taste salty as well. I want to try this again but figured I'd ask just to be certain. Thank you for sharing.
